Poland is a leading producer and exporter of food within the EU. Over the last 20 years, the value of Polish agri-food exports has increased nearly tenfold, reaching EUR 53.5 billion in 2024, up by 2.7% compared to 2023.
The favourable geographical and natural conditions, coupled with the dynamic development of agriculture and the processing sector, have resulted in a diverse and competitively priced range of agri-food products in Poland.

Poland's top exports are meat, meat products and livestock, grain and grain products, tobacco and tobacco products, sugar and confectionery, dairy products, and fish and fish products. These account for around 63% of the country's agri-food exports. Thanks to ideal natural conditions and centuries-old orchard traditions, Poland is a leading global producer and exporter of these fruits. Poland’s apple orchards cover an area of 152,000 hectares, the largest in Europe. Annual apple production is between 4 and 5 million tonnes.

Polish apples include many varieties, prized for their juiciness, flavour and crispness. Sustainable farming practices and strict standards ensure excellent quality. In 2024, apples were exported to many countries, with Egypt and Kazakhstan being the largest non-EU recipients. 2% of Polish fruit and vegetable exports find buyers in Kazakhstan.

Poland is a global leader in the production and export of chocolate and confectionery.

Success lies in combining natural ingredients, premium quality and great taste. In 2024, the value of Polish confectionery exports amounted to EUR 4.5 billion, which accounted for 8% of revenues from foreign sales of agricultural and food products from Poland.

Polish manufacturers offer a range of classic chocolate confectionery, including pralines, chocolates, chocolate-covered fruits and nuts, and bars. Vegan and artisan chocolates are also growing in popularity. Non-chocolate sweets are also worth mentioning. These include delicious jellies, gummies, dragées, and hard candies.

Cereal and Bakery Products

The favourable lowland terrain supports crop production. Poland is a leading EU producer of cereals and cereal products, including flour, flakes, groats, pasta, bread, and bakery products. Traditional Polish bread is renowned worldwide for its taste, texture, crispy crust, and aroma.

The range of Polish products includes traditional wheat, rye, barley and oat breads, as well as dietary products (e.g. gluten-free, crispbread), catering to consumers with particular needs.

Poland’s favourable conditions for dairy farming, with small herds and natural feed, yield milk and dairy products of superior taste and nutritional value. In 2024, Poland's milk production reached 15.5 million tonnes. The production of raw cow's milk in Poland exceeded domestic demand, creating an opportunity to sell dairy products on foreign markets, further boosted by export demand for Polish dairy products.

Dairy bestsellers from Poland include cheese and cottage cheese, milk and cream, butter and fermented drinks. Powdered products such as milk, whey and casein also play an important role in Polish processing industry and exports. In 2024, the volume of casein exports increased significantly (by 67%, to 2,900 tonnes).

Poland is a leading EU producer and exporter of meat products, including poultry, beef, and pork. Polish products are renowned for their high nutritional value and dietary benefits, a result of modern and sustainable farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare, and strict control over every stage of production.

In the meat production and processing sectors, national quality systems are in place that surpass the stringent standards set out in the EU. These include the Quality Assurance of Food Products (QAFP) for pork and poultry, and the Quality Meat Programme (QMP) for beef. All stages of production, from farming to the final product, are certified under these systems.
